Enforcement: what's happening now

As of mid-2026 no publicly confirmed web-accessibility fine; the law has an adjustment period. Oversight is institutionally anchored (e.g. INR).

Portugal has extended digital accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA / EN 301 549) to private providers and online stores since 20 June 2025 through the national transposition of the European Accessibility Act. Oversight is split across AMA (coordination/monitoring), ASAE (e-commerce and online sales platform inspection), ANACOM and sectoral authorities. Conformity is formalised through the Usability and Accessibility Seal (Bronze/Silver/Gold levels), issued by ARTE, I.P. AMA / acessibilidade.gov.pt. Relatorio de Monitorizacao 2022/24
